Who We Are

We think you are awesome just the way you are.  We love the idea that running is a simple and natural thing to do.  We love the idea that running is more about HOW you do it than what you buy or what you have done before.  We are not alone.  We are just one part of a monumental shift in the way people think about running.

We are part of a movement, a band of runners ready to take their running experience back.  Back from injury. Back from being told that you are anything but designed to run.  This is the first time in 40 years a significant number of people started questioning the running status quo.  As a generation there was a certain acceptance that you were gonna get hurt and running enlightenment was reserved only for elites.  

OptimalRun.com was born out of conviction to the running experience in its purest form.  This isn't pro-shoe or anti-shoe, but very much pro you.  We may be the first running store to tell you a shoe should serve a limited and specific purpose.  We may be the first running store to promote the importance of technique over buying something your body is more than capable of doing.  

This movement isn't for everyone.  There are those who are not comfortable with the idea that you were born with everything you need to run.  Not everyone is open to the idea that efficient running technique is something that you can or should learn.  Not everyone is able to give up their dependence on traditional running shoes and work to develop better form, techniqe, strength, balance and philosophy.  It requires work and practice with no guarantees.  Not everyone is open to being that accountable.  But we aren't for everyone.

What you will find here is a company dedicated to empowering willing athletes of all abilities through education, support and tools.  What you will find is a company inspired by the genius of human design and obligated to move forward the idea that you were born to run, born to be happy and born to have a pretty epic life.
